Waging Peace is to host a 5-a-side football tournament #Play2Remember this coming April 2nd in London for genocide survivors.
Play 2 Remember is a 5-a-side football tournament giving a chance for survivors of genocide and mass atrocities, as well as their supporters, to get together in a spirit of commemoration and hope. The tournament marks the 7 April start of 100 days of remembrance for the 1994 Rwandan genocide against the Tutsi, as well as the United Nations International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (IDSDP) on 6 April, and is being arranged by the organisations Football for Hope, Peace & Unity (FHPU) and Waging Peace.
Please join as a team (max. 10 players) or individual (you will be allocated to a team) to play on the day, or as a spectator to watch the fun. The event is not for profit, any proceeds will be used to cover running costs or will be donated to the organisations FHPU or Green Kordofan, a small UK-based charity providing sports programmes to young people in refugee camps in South Sudan who’ve fled violence in the Nuba Mountains of Sudan.
