The first ever women’s Global Goals World Cup is set to kick off in Copenhagen tomorrow.
Grassroots women soccer movement’ Eir soccer has partnered with UNDP, creating a play-for-change soccer tournament that promotes the UN 17 Global Goals.
Eir and UNDP share one common cause: Everyone has the right to play and to fight for freedom. Self-discovery and playful interaction through sports is one of the most empowering ways to restore dignity, unity and hope. Therefore, together, we connect women around the world through soccer, play and fun.
The finals will take place in New York City during the UN General Assembly in September.
By 2018, the aim is to have hundreds of teams playing all around the world – for fun and for the UN Global Goals.
