Volunteers needed for Intercultural Summer Camp!
Show Racism the Red Card will host its annual Intercultural Summer Camp in YMCA Greenhills, Newcastle, Co Down this year from Monday 18th – 22nd August 2014.
We are recruiting for adult male and female volunteers.

About the Intercultural Camp:
The trip is for up to 45 Boys or Girls aged 11-16 years old from North and South, and up to 15 volunteers.
The goals of the camp are:
– Expose young people from diverse backgrounds to each other in a safe environment
– To acknowledge diversity whether it is cultural, linguistic, religious or other and to explore differences in a positive way
– To break down social barriers, which may prevent positive interaction
– To empower young people by enhancing their communication skills and allowing them to engage in community building exercises
The activities of the camp include:
– Language learning
– Culture learning
– Fun & Games
Volunteers specification:
We are looking for individuals who want to be part of a team to help young people learn about different cultures and learn to understand racism and its impact with a view to promoting active responsible citizenship. The volunteers working together will be responsible for planning and implementation of the camp.
Volunteers will ideally have a background in youth work, social care, languages, teaching and a commitment to anti racism. As this work involves young people under the age of 18, all volunteers will be subject to Garda vetting and reference check.
